REPRESENTATIVE STEVE DAVIS APPOINTED TO TRANSPORTATION APPROVAL COMMITTEE

Rep. Steve Davis to Serve on the House Transportation Subcommittee on
Approval of the Director of Planning

ATLANTA – Today House Transportation Chairman Jay Roberts (R-Ocilla) named Representative Steve Davis (R-McDonough) to serve on the House Transportation Subcommittee on Approval of the Director of Planning. This subcommittee is to consider Governor Sonny Perdue’s recent appointment, Mr. Todd Long, for the position of Director of Planning at the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and make a recommendation to the full House Transportation Committee.

“Transportation is one of the most critical issues facing Georgia and I am honored to be part of this very important process,” said Representative Davis. “The position of Director of Planning carries with it a lot of responsibility, as does the confirmation process. I look forward to hearing from Mr. Long and his plans to create an efficient statewide transportation system.”
“Rep. Davis possesses a comprehensive understanding of Georgia’s transportation issues and is a key member of the House Transportation Committee,” said Chairman Jay Roberts. “His diligence and insight will prove valuable during the confirmation process.”
The House Transportation Committee is required by Senate Bill 200, which Governor Perdue signed into law May 11, 2009, to approve any personnel named to the Director of Planning position at GDOT. The subcommittee is tentatively scheduled to begin approval hearings for the Director of Planning position in August. More information regarding a specific meeting time and place will follow. The subcommittee marks a historic note as it is the first time in Georgia’s history the House of Representatives will convene for a confirmation hearing.
