ATLANTA – The March/April 2010 edition of James Magazine named State Representative Terry England (R-Auburn) as one of the Most Influential Georgians of 2010.
“Needless to say, I was surprised to be recognized by James Magazine as one of Georgia’s Most Influential people,” said Rep. England. “This is an incredible honor that I never expected. I was taught by my parents to work hard at whatever I do, and that is what I always try to strive for while representing the fine folks in the 108th District. Recognition like this is very humbling and special to me.”
James Magazine is Georgia’s only monthly news magazine and is widely considered one of the state’s top resources for Georgia political news and issues. In a list that has become an annual tradition, naming the “who’s who” of Georgia politics, the “2010 Most Influential Georgians” also includes House Speaker David Ralston (R- Blue Ridge), U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, Department of Transportation Commissioner Vance Smith and Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Ken Stewart.
Rep. England has earned a reputation as an honest and discerning member of the Georgia House of Representatives. Because of his unique understanding of agriculture and other key legislative issues, Rep. England’s support of legislation is highly regarded among his colleagues in the state House. During this year’s legislative session, Rep. England worked closely with Governor Perdue and other legislators in writing the 2010 Water Stewardship Act. Rep. England was especially helpful in writing portions of the Act relating to outdoor watering, such as agricultural and landscaping irrigation.
This year Rep. England also became a vice-chairman of the influential House Appropriations Committee. In this role he serves as the chairman of the House Appropriations sub-committee on Education and oversees all state funding for Georgia’s public Pre-K, elementary, middle, and high schools.
Other accomplishments during the 2010 legislative session include the passage of House Bill 1195 and Senate Bill 237, both of which were carried in the House by Rep. England. HB 1195 codifies the State Workforce Investment Board, which Rep. England has served on for the last five years. This board is responsible for the highly successful Georgia Work Ready program. SB 237 helps protect retailers and consumers from price gouging during a declared state of emergency by the Governor.

Representative Terry England represents the citizens of District 108, which includes portions of Barrow County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2005, and currently serves as the Vice-Chairman of the Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee and Vice-Chairman of the Appropriations Committee.
