Rep. Billy Mitchell Re-Elected House Minority Caucus Chairman

ATLANTA – The Georgia House Democratic Caucus recently re-elected State Representative Billy Mitchell (D-Stone Mountain) as the House Minority Caucus Chairman for the 2023-2024 legislative term during caucus elections on Tuesday, November 22, 2022.

            “In my leadership role, I have served consistently and fairly and will continue to balance the interests of the caucus,” said Chairman Mitchell. “Having served in the House for 20 years, I hope to continue to do great things for our caucus because the caucus is at its best when we work together towards our shared goals.”

In this position, Chairman Billy Mitchell will lead the House Minority Caucus’ operations. He will preside over the Minority Caucus meetings, oversee incumbent re-elections, and spearhead candidate recruitment, among other responsibilities.

This will be Chairman Billy Mitchell’s 11th term in the Georgia House of Representatives and his second term as the Majority Caucus Chairman.

Representative Billy Mitchell currently represents the citizens of District 88, which includes portions of DeKalb County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2002 and currently serves as Chairman of the House Minority Caucus. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation and the Banks & Banking, Health & Human Services and Regulated Industries committees.

Rep. Billy Mitchell Selected to Serve on National Conference of State Legislatures’ Executive Committee

ATLANTA – State Representative Billy Mitchell (D-Stone Mountain), chairman of the Georgia House Democratic Caucus, was recently elected by other lawmakers from around the country to serve on the 2022-2023 NCSL Executive Committee at the National Conference of State Legislatures’ (NCSL) 2022 Legislative Summit in Denver. Chairman Mitchell completed a rigorous and highly competitive nomination process on Monday, August 1, 2022.

Rep. Mitchell to Hold Press Conference on the Equal Rights Amendment Tomorrow

ATLANTA – State Representative Billy Mitchell (D-Stone Mountain) will hold a press conference on recent efforts to ratify the proposed Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) TOMORROW, Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the South Wing Steps of the State Capitol.

Rep. Mitchell will be joined by members of the Georgia National Organization for Women and the Georgia Federation of Democratic Women to discuss the potential confirmation of the Equal Rights Amendment. If ratified, the ERA would amend the U.S. Constitution to end discrimination on the basis of sex.
