Chairman Chuck Martin Applauds Signing of Legislation to Codify Georgia DREAMS Need-Based Scholarship into Law

ATLANTA – State Representative Chuck Martin (R-Alpharetta), chairman of the House Higher Education Committee, applauds Governor Brian Kemp for signing Senate Bill 556, legislation that codifies the Georgia Dedicating Resources to Educationally Advance More Students (DREAMS) scholarship program under the Georgia Student Finance Commission. The bill also incorporates several other measures aimed at expanding access to higher education, strengthening workforce development and enhancing student financial aid programs across Georgia.

Chairman Chuck Martin Appointed to Two House Blue-Ribbon Study Committees

ATLANTA – State Representative Chuck Martin (R-Alpharetta), chairman of the House Higher Education Committee, was recently appointed by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve on both the House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Local Government Taxation, Funding, and Budgeting and the House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Education Performance Metrics and Workforce Stability.

House Study Committee on Funding for Next Generation 9-1-1 Recommends Statewide Funding Model to Modernize Georgia’s 9-1-1 System

ATLANTA – The House Study Committee on Funding for Next Generation 9-1-1, chaired by State Representative Chuck Martin (R-Alpharetta), recently released its final report outlining a path forward to modernize Georgia’s emergency communications system and ensure reliable 9-1-1 service for every community in the state. The study committee held public hearings across the state, conducted a comprehensive review of Georgia’s current 9-1-1 funding structure and heard testimony from emergency responders, technology experts, local governments and national leaders in 9-1-1 modernization.
