ATLANTA – State Representative Houston Gaines (R-Athens) yesterday led a bipartisan effort to pass House Bill 521, which is a legislative effort to increase access to free dental care for low-income citizens in Georgia. Reps. Gaines and Wiedower Announce Grant Funding for Organizations in Clarke and Oconee Counties

ATLANTA – The Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) and State Representatives Houston Gaines (R-Athens) and Marcus Wiedower (R-Watkinsville) recently announced that the Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation, Inc. (OCAF) and Nuçi’s Space were awarded grant funding for special art projects OFAC received a Vibrant Communities Grant for $4,000, and Nuçi’s Space received a Cultural Facilities Grant for more than $21,000. Rep. Houston Gaines Named a 2019 Champion of Recovery by Georgia Council on Substance Abuse

ATLANTA – State Representative Houston Gaines (R-Athens) was recently named a 2019 Champion of Recovery and friend of the Georgia Recovery Community by the Georgia Council on Substance Abuse (GCSA) for his work on House Bill 217, which authorizes syringe services programs in Georgia, during the 2019 legislative session. Rep. Gaines received this award at an event to launch The Georgia Recovers Project, where he also served as a speaker for the event.    Continue reading “Rep.
