ATLANTA – State Representative Alex Atwood (R-Brunswick) commented today on the General Assembly’s passage of House Bill 1166, legislation that provides parents with an additional voluntary option for ensuring their children receive health insurance coverage. Sponsored by Rep. Atwood, HB 1166 passed the Senate yesterday with a vote of 42 to 2, showing tremendous bipartisan support for the measure. Rep. Atwood Introduces Legislation to Reform SPLOST

ATLANTA – State Representative Alex Atwood (R-St. Simons) announced today the introduction of House Bill 814, a SPLOST reform bill that would increase public oversight of Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) funds and the voter approved projects those funds support. Rep. Jason Spencer to Introduce Legislation Requiring Drug Tests for TANF

ATLANTA – State Representative Jason Spencer (R-Woodbine) today announced plans to introduce legislation that would require applicants seeking cash assistance through the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program to pass a drug test before receiving any public funds. The proposed legislation would only affect TANF and would have no effect on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or any other public assistance programs. Continue reading “Rep.
