ATLANTA— Last week state Representative Allen Peake (R-Bibb County) introduced House Bill 938, legislation that prohibits texting while driving. Under the legislation anyone found guilty of writing, sending, or reading a text-based communication on a wireless telecommunications device would be issued a fine of $50 to $100 and have a two point penalty added to their drivers’ license. Peake will be responsible for the financial management of the House Republican Caucus funds, for maintaining a record of all caucus meetings, advancing communication vehicles for the House Caucus, as well as providing input to the House leadership on policy initiatives. ATLANTA – The House Republican Caucus recently elected state Representative Allen Peake (R- Macon) as the new caucus secretary/treasurer. In his new position, Rep. The leadership change came after Rep. Jay Roberts became House Transportation Committee Chairman and stepped down as House Republican Caucus Chairman. Rep. Donna Sheldon (R- Dacula), formerly the caucus vice-chairman, was elected to the position of caucus chairman and Rep. Jeff May (R- Monroe), previously, the caucus secretary/treasurer, was elected vice chairman.
