ATLANTA – State Representative Anissa Jones (D-Macon) was recently appointed by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve on the Economic Development, Transportation & Cultural Affairs Committee of the Council of State Governments Southern Office (CSG South) for a two-year term, ending December 31, 2027.

Rep. Anissa Jones Applauds House Health Committee Passage of Maternal Mental Health Legislation

ATLANTA – State Representative Anissa Jones (D-Macon) applauds the recent House Health Committee passage of House Bill 1346, the Georgia Maternal Mental Health Improvement Act. Sponsored by Rep. Jones, the legislation would ensure that health insurance policies issued in Georgia provide coverage for medically necessary maternal mental health screenings during pregnancy and for up to 12 months postpartum, along with treatment for women who screen positive for maternal mental health conditions.

GUEST EDITORIAL: Rep. Anissa Jones on Georgia’s Economic Outlook: Middle Georgia Families Still Feeling the Strain

Georgia State Economist Robert Buschman’s presentation outlined a mixed economic forecast for Georgia. While lower personal debt levels and stronger bank balance sheets are positive indicators, slow job and income growth, persistent inflation, high mortgage rates and record business bankruptcies continue to challenge families and small businesses across the state. Consumer and business confidence remain low, with many expressing concerns about rising prices and slowing growth.
