Reps. Brad Thomas and Todd Jones Introduce Legislation on Artificial Intelligence

Legislation would Audit AI Across all State Agencies, Establish Felony Offenses for AI Election Interference

ATLANTA – State Representatives Brad Thomas (R-Holly Springs) and Todd Jones (R-South Forsyth) recently introduced two pieces of legislation related to artificial intelligence (AI) and certain offenses for election interference, House Bill 986 and House Bill 988. HB 986, also known as the “AI Transparency and Protection Act” would create criminal felony offenses of election interference carried out by AI. HB 988 would require the Georgia Technology Authority to audit all artificial intelligence usage by state agencies.

House Technology and Infrastructure Innovation Subcommittee on Artificial Intelligence to Hold First Meeting

ATLANTA – The House Technology and Infrastructure Innovation Subcommittee on Artificial Intelligence, chaired by State Representative Brad Thomas (R – Woodstock), will hold its first meeting on Friday, September 29, 2023, at 9 a.m. in room 506 of the Coverdell Legislative Office Building in Atlanta, Georgia.

Rep. Brad Thomas Appointed to Georgia Technology Authority Oversight Committee

ATLANTA – State Representative Brad Thomas (R-Holly Springs) was recently appointed by Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve as a member of the Georgia Technology Authority Oversight Committee. Rep. Thomas’ committee term will run concurrently with the 2023-2024 legislative term of the Georgia General Assembly.

ACCG Honors Rep. Brad Thomas With 2023 Legislative Service Award

ATLANTA – State Representative Brad Thomas (R-Holly Springs) was recently honored by the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) with a 2023 Legislative Service Award. The ACCG selected Rep. Thomas for his legislative efforts to balance the rights of both property owners and local governing bodies.

Rep. Brad Thomas to Chair New House Technology and Infrastructure Innovation Subcommittee on Artificial Intelligence

ATLANTA – State Representative Brad Thomas (R-Woodstock) today announced that he has been appointed by House Technology and Infrastructure Innovation Committee Chairman Todd Jones (R-South Forsyth) to serve as the chairman of the full committee’s newly created Subcommittee on Artificial Intelligence (AI).
