Speaker Jon Burns Announces Appointments to House Study Committee on Alternatives to Opioids for Pain Management

ATLANTA – Today, Speaker of the House Jon Burns (R-Newington) announced the members of the House Study Committee on Alternatives to Opioids for Pain Management. This committee was created by legislation adopted during the 2024 session of the Georgia General Assembly.

Rep. Butch Parrish Announces Grant Funding for New Karrh Community Arts Center in Swainsboro

ATLANTA – State Representative Butch Parrish (R-Swainsboro), chairman of the House Rules Committee, announces that the Karrh Community Arts Center has been awarded a one-time grant of $250,000 allocated under House Bill 915, the Amended Fiscal Year 2024 budget. These Special Project funds are administered through the Georgia Council for the Arts, a division of the Georgia Department of Economic Development charged with empowering the arts industry in Georgia and artists around the state to cultivate healthy, vibrant communities that are rich in civic participation, cultural experiences and economic prosperity.

Certificate of Need Legislation Signed into Law

ATLANTA – Today, Chairman Butch Parrish (R-Swainsboro) and other legislators joined Governor Brian Kemp at the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga. as he signed House Bill 1339 into law. HB 1339 was sponsored by Chairman Parrish and co-sponsored by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) and reforms Georgia’s certificate of need (CON) laws.
