Georgia Legislative Black Caucus Urges Increased State Funding for Georgia HBCUs

ATLANTA – State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-Savannah), chair of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus (GLBC), urges the Georgia General Assembly to increase state funding for the state’s historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). The caucus has expressed concern that the state’s current funding formula for its public higher education institutions has negatively impacted HBCUs, such as Savannah State University.

Georgia Legislative Black Caucus Announces “Black Farmers Tour” Locations

ATLANTA – State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-Savannah), chair of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus (GLBC), today announced site visit locations for the caucus’ statewide “Black Farmers Tour.” Through this event series, the GLBC seeks to collaborate with Black farmers on legislative solutions to remove systemic barriers and ensure equal access to resources and opportunities.
