Rep. Darlene Taylor Receives Hurricane Ian Briefing at State Operations Center, GEMA/HS Headquarters

ATLANTA – State Representative Darlene Taylor (R-Thomasville), chair of the House Governmental Affairs Committee, yesterday visited the State Operations Center and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency and Homeland Security (GEMA/HS) headquarters and received a briefing regarding Hurricane Ian’s path and potential impact on South Georgia. The State Operations Center, which was activated this week by Governor Kemp and emergency management officials, is a Multi-Agency Coordination Center used by state, federal, local and volunteer agencies, as well as private sector organizations, to respond to disasters or emergencies that require a coordinated state response.

Rep. Darlene Taylor Commends Lake Lanier Water Agreement for Local Providers

ATLANTA – State Representative Darlene Taylor (R-Thomasville), chair of the House Governmental Affairs Committee, commends the state’s new water agreement to enable local service providers in Forsyth, Gwinnett and Hall counties to draw water from Lake Lanier. On Monday, Rep. Taylor joined Governor Brian Kemp as he made the historic announcement that will help end a decades-long “water war” between Georgia, Florida and Alabama.

Rep. Darlene Taylor Commends $6.8 Million in Grant Funding for Broadband Access in Thomas County

ATLANTA – State Representative Darlene Taylor (R-Thomasville), chair of the House Governmental Affairs Committee, commends Governor Brian Kemp’s decision to award $6.8 million in federal funding for broadband access throughout in Thomas County. This federal funding is awarded to the Thomas County Board of Commissioners and could potentially increase broadband access for 2,098 locations in the county.

Rep. Darlene Taylor Named 2021 Woman of the Year by Thomasville-Thomas County Chamber of Commerce

ATLANTA – State Representative Darlene Taylor (R-Thomasville), chair of the House Governmental Affairs Committee, was recently named the 2021 Woman of the Year by the Thomasville-Thomas County Chamber of Commerce. Rep. Taylor was recognized by the chamber during its annual Community Impact Awards dinner on Nov. 4.
