ATLANTA – Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) today announced the creation of the House Working Group on Rising Costs of Construction Materials.
“We know that the rising costs of construction materials pose a threat to our continued economic recovery,” said Speaker Ralston. “I am appointing this working group to look into why these costs are increasing and recommend any solutions which may alleviate this burden on those building for the future.”

The House Working Group on Rising Costs of Construction Materials is constituted pursuant to the authority granted to the Speaker by House Rules. The working group is authorized for the entirety of the 2021-2022 legislative term.

Rep. Derek Mallow Announces Final Passage of Legislation to Compensate Wrongfully Convicted Former U.S. Soldiers
ATLANTA – State Representative Derek Mallow (D-Savannah) today announced that the Georgia Senate provided final passage to three House resolutions, legislation which would authorize the state to compensate three former U.S. Army soldiers who were wrongfully convicted of murder in 1992. If these resolutions are signed into law by the governor, Mark Jones, Kenneth Gardiner and Dominic Lucci would each receive $1 million.
Rep. Derek Mallow Sworn in, Receives Committee Assignments for the 2021-2022 Legislative Term
ATLANTA – State Representative Derek Mallow (D-Savannah) was sworn into office as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives on Monday, January 11, 2021, which was the first day of the 2021-2022 legislative term. In addition to being officially sworn in, the Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named Rep. Mallow to the Economic Development & Tourism, State Planning & Community Affairs and Retirement committees.
