Rep. Jesse Petrea Introduces Legislation on Georgia Sheriffs Violating Georgia Sanctuary Laws

ATLANTA – State Representative Jesse Petrea (R-Savannah) recently introduced legislation to provide a criminal penalty for sheriffs who refuse to follow Georgia state law on sanctuary policies. House Bill 1105, the “Georgia Criminal Alien Track and Report Act of 2024,” would make it a misdemeanor of a high and aggravated nature for sheriffs to disregard Georgia laws against “sanctuary” policies.

Rep. Jesse Petrea Announces Major Conservation Success for Green Island on Georgia Coast

ATLANTA – State Representative Jesse Petrea (R-Savannah), chairman of the House Human Relations & Aging Committee, today announced a major conservation success to preserve Green Island, which is a 450-acre island located along the south Chatham County coastline and owned by Savannah’s Lewis family. Two years ago, Rep. Petrea began working to secure sustainable funding and a preservation plan for Green Island.
