ATLANTA – Today, Georgia House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) announced the hire of veteran communications strategist Stephen Lawson as Senior Advisor for Communications within his office. Lawson has extensive experience in political, government and policy arenas helping advocate for and execute winning messages across the spectrum. In this role, he will oversee all external communication, media relations and strategic messaging for Speaker Burns.

Withdraws Appointment of Rep. Mesha Mainor to Comply with Legislation

ATLANTA – Speaker of the House Jon Burns (R-Newington) announced today that, pursuant to the provisions of Senate Bill 211, he has withdrawn the appointment of Rep. Mesha Mainor (R-Atlanta) to the Georgia Council on Literacy and filled the vacancy by appointing Rep. Al Williams  (D-Midway) to the Council.
