ATLANTA – State Representatives David Knight (R-Griffin) and Karen Mathiak (R-Griffin) seek to make constituents aware of the recent consent order between the State Election Board (SEB) and the Spalding County Board of Elections (BOE), which clears Spalding County poll managers and workers from certain allegations of illegal activity and requires the Spalding County BOE to improve its operations for future elections. Reps. Knight, Mathiak Applaud State Election Board Decision to Refer Spalding County Election Investigation to Attorney General’s Office
ATLANTA – State Representatives David Knight (R-Griffin) and Karen Mathiak (R-Griffin), members of the Spalding County Legislative Delegation, applaud the State Election Board’s (SEB) recent decision to refer its investigation of the Spalding County Board of Elections (BOE) and its elections supervisor to the Georgia Attorney General’s Office, where it will now be eligible for further action. Reps. Knight and Mathiak have been working since December to highlight election failures that occurred in Spalding County after the November elections, including calling on Attorney General Chris Carr to investigate the official conduct of the Spalding County BOE and elections supervisor at that time.
Rep. Karen Mathiak Named Chairman of the House State Planning & Community Affairs Committee
ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Karen Mathiak (R-Griffin) as the Chairman of the House State Planning & Community Affairs Committee. Rep. Mathiak will also serve as a member on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Human Resources, as well as the Health & Human Services, Higher Education, Insurance and Interstate Cooperation committees.
Reps. David Knight, Karen Mathiak Highlight Spalding County Election Failures, Continue to Call for Local Elections Officials to Step Down
ATLANTA – State Representatives David Knight (R-Griffin) and Karen Mathiak (R-Griffin), who are members of the Spalding County Legislative Delegation, continue to push the investigation into the Spalding County Board of Elections (BOE) and the Spalding County elections supervisor to evaluate the handling of the Nov. 3 election in accordance with Georgia law and election rules and regulations. Knight and Mathiak wish to highlight the mismanagement and unlawful events that they believe to have occurred leading up to Nov. 3, as well as on Election Day and thereafter.
