Rep. Lynn Heffner Resigns from House of Representatives

ATLANTA – State Representative Lynn Heffner (D-Augusta) today announced her resignation from the Georgia House of Representatives, effective immediately. First sworn into office in 2022 and representing House District 130, Rep. Heffner cites constitutional residency obligations under Article III, Section II, Paragraph II of the Georgia Constitution, as the reason for her resignation after her primary residence sustained severe structural damage as a result of Hurricane Helene.

Speaker Jon Burns Announces Appointments to 2025 House Study Committees

ATLANTA – Today, House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) announced appointments to the Georgia House of Representatives’ 2025 study committees. These committees will meet throughout the interim, hear from experts, stakeholders and the public and compile a report of specific findings or legislative recommendations ahead of the 2026 legislative session.
