Rep. Lynn Smith’s Natural Disaster Relief Legislation Receives Final Passage

ATLANTA – State Representative Lynn Smith (R-Newnan) today announced that the Georgia Senate gave final passage to House Resolution 594, legislation that would provide tax relief following natural disasters, on Friday, April 1, 2022. HR 594 has been sent to Governor Brian Kemp.

Members of the Coweta Co. Legislative Delegation Tout Gov. Kemp’s Disaster Relief Funding for Coweta County

ATLANTA – State Representatives Josh Bonner (R-Fayetteville), Lynn Smith (R-Newnan) and State Senator Matt Brass (R-Newnan) are praising Governor Brian Kemp’s recent announcement that he will authorize the release of $1 million from the Governor’s Emergency Fund to support disaster relief operations in Coweta County stemming from the EF-4 tornado that hit Newnan, Ga. in March 2021.

Rep. Lynn Smith Participates in Southern Legislative Policy Forum for Water Management

ATLANTA – State Representative Lynn Smith (R-Newnan), chair of the House Natural Resources and Environment Committee, recently participated in a water management policy forum hosted by the Southern Legislative Conference (SLC) of The Council of State Governments (CSG). Rep. Smith previously served as chair of the SLC’s Energy & Environment Committee and was invited by the SLC to participate in this special seminar, which took place from October 12 – 15 at the Water Campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

House and Senate Natural Resources & Environment Committees Participate in Environmental Policy Academy in West Georgia

            ATLANTA – State Representative Lynn Smith (R-Newnan) and State Senator Tyler Harper (R-Ocilla), chairs of the House and Senate Natural Resources and Environment committees, recently participated in the Carl Vinson Institute of Government’s Legislative Environmental Policy Academy. Chairmen Smith and Harper were joined by members of the respective committees to strengthen their understanding of key environmental issues facing West Georgia.
