Reps. Gaines, Wiedower Announce Funding for Local Priorities Included in House FY 2022 Budget

ATLANTA – State Representatives Houston Gaines (R-Athens) and Marcus Wiedower (R-Watkinsville) today announced that House Bill 81, the Fiscal Year 2022 (FY 2022) budget, includes more than $50 million in bonds to support a number of priorities for the Athens area, such as project funding for the University of Georgia (UGA), Athens Technical College and Athens Transit. HB 81 was passed by the House today, Friday, Feb. 5.

Rep. Marcus Wiedower Named to Powerful House Committees

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Marcus Wiedower (R-Watkinsville) as a new member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government, which assists with crafting the state budget, as well as the House Ways & Means Committee, which is responsible for tax-writing legislation.

Reps. Gaines and Wiedower Announce Grant Funding for Organizations in Clarke and Oconee Counties

ATLANTA – The Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) and State Representatives Houston Gaines (R-Athens) and Marcus Wiedower (R-Watkinsville) recently announced that the Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation, Inc. (OCAF) and Nuçi’s Space were awarded grant funding for special art projects OFAC received a Vibrant Communities Grant for $4,000, and Nuçi’s Space received a Cultural Facilities Grant for more than $21,000.
