ATLANTA – Today, House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) announced appointments to the Georgia House of Representatives’ 2025 study committees. These committees will meet throughout the interim, hear from experts, stakeholders and the public and compile a report of specific findings or legislative recommendations ahead of the 2026 legislative session.

Rep. Mitchell Horner Appointed Vice Chairman of Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), recently named State Representative Mitchell Horner (R-Ringgold) to serve as Vice Chairman of the House Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight Committee for the 2025-2026 legislative term. Rep. Horner was also appointed to the Retirement and Transportation committees and reappointed to the Small Business Development Committee.

Rep. Mitchell Horner Introduces Bills to Provide Local Homestead Exemption and Require Catoosa County Board of Education to Adopt a Balanced Budget

ATLANTA – State Representative Mitchell Horner (R-Ringgold) recently introduced House Bills 30 and 31, which would provide a homestead exemption from Catoosa County ad valorem taxes for senior citizens and require the Catoosa County Board of Education to adopt a balanced budget, respectively.
