ATLANTA – State Representative Penny Houston (R-Nashville) recently received the Outstanding State Legislator for 2011 Award from the Georgia Council on Aging (GCOA). The Council awarded Rep. Houston, who chairs the House Appropriations Sub-committees on Human Resources, in recognition of her support for aging services funding and her fight to restore funding for respite care, Meals on Wheels, and vision services. Rep. Jason Spencer to Introduce Legislation Requiring Drug Tests for TANF

ATLANTA – State Representative Jason Spencer (R-Woodbine) today announced plans to introduce legislation that would require applicants seeking cash assistance through the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program to pass a drug test before receiving any public funds. The proposed legislation would only affect TANF and would have no effect on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or any other public assistance programs. Continue reading “Rep.
