House Budget Includes Additional Education Funding for Tift County Schools

ATLANTA – The House Legislative Delegation of Tift County, which includes State Representatives Penny Houston (R-Nashville), Jay Roberts (R-Ocilla) and Sam Watson (R-Moultrie), announced today that the Georgia House of Representatives’ Amended Fiscal Year 2014 (AFY 2014) state budget includes an addition of $83,027 for the Tift County Board of Education. This announcement comes following today’s House passage of HB 743. The AFY 2014 budget is the state’s mid-year spending plan which helps fund the final few months of the current fiscal year. Rep. Houston Commends GEFA Program to Help Farmers Obtain Energy Efficient Products

ATLANTA – The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) recently announced it is launching the Georgia Agricultural Irrigation Motor (AIM) Program. State Representative Penny Houston (R-Nashville) praised this program as one that would help Georgia farmers become more energy-efficient, save money on fuel costs, and reduce emissions by providing farmers with a rebate to replace inefficient diesel irrigation engines with energy-efficient electric irrigation motors.

Rep. Penny Houston Named to Southern Legislative Conference Fiscal Affairs & Government Operations Committee

ATLANTA— House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) today announced the appointment of state Representative Penny Houston (R-Nashville) to the Southern Legislative Conference (SLC) Fiscal Affairs & Government Operations (FA&GO) Committee. As the presiding officer of the Georgia House of Representatives, Speaker Ralston is charged with selecting members to represent Georgia within SLC.
