ATLANTA – State Representative Sam Watson (R-Moultrie) recently introduced the Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Act, or House Bill 332, legislation that would create a dedicated source of funding for land conservation throughout Georgia. Additionally, House Resolution 238, companion legislation that would call for a required voter referendum in November 2018, would propose that 75 percent of the existing sales and use tax on outdoor recreation equipment be dedicated for the protection of the state’s water, wildlife and quality of life. House Budget Includes Additional Education Funding for Tift County Schools
ATLANTA – The House Legislative Delegation of Tift County, which includes State Representatives Penny Houston (R-Nashville), Jay Roberts (R-Ocilla) and Sam Watson (R-Moultrie), announced today that the Georgia House of Representatives’ Amended Fiscal Year 2014 (AFY 2014) state budget includes an addition of $83,027 for the Tift County Board of Education. This announcement comes following today’s House passage of HB 743. The AFY 2014 budget is the state’s mid-year spending plan which helps fund the final few months of the current fiscal year.
