DeKalb County House Legislative Delegation to Hold Meeting with DeKalb County Board of Commissioners & MARTA

ATLANTA – DeKalb County House Delegation Chair Karla Drenner (D-Avondale Estates) and Vice Chair Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain), along with members of the DeKalb County House Legislative Delegation, will hold a meeting with the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 12 p.m. in room 514 of the Coverdell Legislative Office Building in Atlanta. Additionally, these legislators will meet with MARTA representatives on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 12 p.m. in room 502 of the Coverdell Legislative Office Building in Atlanta.

Reps. Sandra Scott, Viola Davis and Kim Schofield Introduce and Withdraw Veterans Day Paid Leave Act

ATLANTA – State Representatives Sandra Scott (D-Rex), Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain) and Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) recently introduced House Bill 22, the Veterans Day Paid Leave Act, which seeks to ensure that veterans employed in Georgia receive a day of paid leave on Veterans Day. On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, Rep. Scott withdrew HB 22 from consideration for the 2025 legislative session.

Reps. Sandra Scott, Viola Davis and Kim Schofield Introduce Dignity is Essential Act to Allow SNAP and WIC Recipients Opportunity to Purchase Hygiene Products

ATLANTA – State Representatives Sandra Scott (D-Rex), Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain) and Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) recently introduced House Bill 25, the Dignity is Essential Act, which seeks to address hygiene inequity by allowing recipients of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) to purchase certain hygiene products, specifically diapers and menstrual hygiene items, should a federal waiver become available.

Reps. Sandra Scott, Viola Davis and Kim Schofield Introduce School Behavioral Health Support Act to Expand Mental Health Services in Schools

ATLANTA – State Representatives Sandra Scott (D-Rex), Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain) and Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) recently introduced House Bill 24, the School Behavioral Health Support Act, which seeks to expand mental health services in Georgia’s K-12 schools. This bill aims to establish a school-linked behavioral health grant program to provide early intervention and treatment for students struggling with mental health or substance use disorders.
