Representative Fludd Files Legislation to Solve State Budget Problems
ATLANTA – Today State Representative Virgil Fludd (D-Tyrone) filed House Bill 1066- legislation that would generate approximately $220 million through a temporary one percent surcharge for married couples who have a total income of more than $400,000 and single individuals with an income of $200,000. The additional income tax surcharge affects less than one percent of Georgia taxpayers. Continue reading “

ATLANTA – The Closing the Achievement Gap Education Summit, co-sponsored by both Rep. Alisha Morgan (D-Austell) and Rep. Virgil Fludd (D-Tyrone), will take place at the State Capitol today, May 18th from 4 PM – 7 PM. The Summit will include an action center to connect stakeholders with advocacy organizations, followed by seminars in how the current achievement gap in Georgia education affects graduation rates and higher education. The Summit will conclude with a rally on the Capitol steps with remarks from civic and community leaders.
