Reps. Gravley and Hightower Meet with GDOT in Douglas County to Discuss Problem Areas

ATLANTA— State Representatives Micah Gravley (R-Douglasville) and Dusty Hightower (R-Carrollton) recently met with officials from the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) in Douglas County to tour the area’s troubled roadways.

“Over the past year, I have met with and spoken to constituents and county leaders about problem areas dealing with eases of access, traffic flow, and most importantly the public’s safety on our roadways,” said Rep. Gravley. “I have been working with Commissioner Ann Jones-Guider, Senator Dugan and Representative Hightower to address these concerns with our Georgia DOT. By visiting Douglas County, GDOT officials had a first-hand look at our local needs. Senator Dugan and Representative Hightower share my concerns, along with Chairman Worthan and Commissioners Jones-Guider and Mulcare.”

“I want thank the local commissioners that met with us to tour Douglas County with GDOT,” said Rep. Hightower. “We spent close to three hours traveling across the county with GDOT personnel and engineers in an effort to put boots on the ground to fix some of Douglas County’s intersections and roads. Today we often rely too heavily on emails and texts, but sometimes to addresses a need, you must to go straight to the source and have a first-hand look at the problem. I think we are making great strides in the right direction, and GDOT seemed eager to help address the concerns of our Douglas County constituents and our commissioners who were fighting for those they represent.”

GDOT Officials, including Regional Engineer Rachel Brown and Douglas County DOT Director Randy Hulsey, met with Douglas County Board of Commissioners Chairman Tom Worthan and Commissioners Ann Jones-Guider and Mike Mulcare. The group toured troubled areas including the following intersections: West Banks Mill-Poole Road and Big A Road at Highway 5, John West Road at Highway 5, Berea Road, and Highway 5, Alexander Parkway and Highway 5, and the off-ramps at Highway 5 in the Bill Arp Community.
