ATLANTA – Yesterday the House Rural Caucus held their first meeting of the 2009 legislative session. During this meeting the Caucus adopted by-laws and re-elected all officers.
These representatives were re-elected to the following leadership positions:
• Representative Terry England (R-Auburn) Chairman
• Representative Jay Shaw (D-Lakeland) Vice Chair
• Representative Barbara Massey Reece (D-Menlo) Secretary
• Representative Tommy Benton (R-Jefferson) Treasurer
“The fact that all of our officers ran uncontested shows that the Rural Caucus is in capable hands and on the right track. I look forward to leading the Caucus for another term and hope that we can continue to work together in a non-partisan matter for the betterment of rural Georgia,” said Rep. Terry England.
Consisting of approximately 55 members, the Rural Caucus is the largest non-partisan Caucus in the Georgia House of Representatives. The Rural Caucus was created 4 years ago to address issues affecting rural areas and rural communities.
