ATLANTA — Speaker of the House David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) has appointed the following members to the House Study Committee on the Preservation of the HOPE Scholarship Program:

- Rep. Chuck Martin (R-Alpharetta)
- Rep. Howard Maxwell (R-Dallas)
- Rep. John Meadows (R-Calhoun)
- Rep. Calvin Smyre (D-Columbus)
- Rep. Ron Stephens (R-Savannah)
- Rep. Brian Strickland (R-McDonough)
This study committee is established by House Resolution 827 and will study how to preserve the HOPE Scholarship Program, particularly by exploring the creation of additional revenue sources such as the state taxation of casino gaming and pari-mutuel wagering on horse racing.
