ATLANTA — Speaker of the House David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) has appointed the following members to the House Study Committee on HOPE Scholarship Program Award Amount for Critical Career Fields:
- Rep. Amy Carter (R-Valdosta), Chairman
- Rep. Gerald Greene (R-Cuthbert)
- Rep. Craig Gordon (D-Savannah)
- Rep. Terry Rogers (R-Clarkesville)
The Speaker also appointed the following individuals, in their official capacities, to the study committee:
- Mr. Tracy Ireland, Associate Vice Chancellor – University System of Georgia
- Mr. Phil Smith, Chief Operating Officer – Technical College System of Georgia
- Ms. Tricia Chastain, President – Georgia Student Finance Commission
This study committee is established by House Resolution 71 and will study how adjustments to the HOPE scholarship award to students pursuing certain fields of study at eligible private postsecondary institutions may eliminate the shortfall of workers in critical career fields.
