Speaker David Ralston Appoints Representative Chuck Williams to Joint Agriculture Exposition Authority Overview Committee

ATLANTA — Speaker of the House David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) has appointed Representative Chuck Williams (R-Watkinsville) to the Joint Agriculture Exposition Authority Overview Committee.

“While the fairgrounds and agricenter facilities in Perry are a multipurpose economic engine for our state, this facility is first and foremost an educational venue for our youth,” said Representative Williams. “4-H and FFA members learn lifelong lessons in the livestock show rings there, and maintaining this educational emphasis will be a focus for me.”

The Joint Agriculture Exposition Authority Overview Committee is a joint committee of the General Assembly and is comprised of five representatives and five senators. The committee advises the General Assembly on the compliance of the Georgia Agricultural Exposition Authority with its governing directives.

The Georgia Agricultural Exposition Authority operates the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter, a state-owned 1,100 acre, multipurpose rental complex designed for meetings, conferences, and trade shows among other events. It is also home to the official, state-sponsored Georgia National Fair.

Representative Chuck Williams represents the citizens of District 119, which includes portions of Clarke and Oconee counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2011, and currently serves as the Vice Chairman on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education and Higher Education Committee. He also serves on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Information & Audits, and Natural Resources & Environment committees.
