ATLANTA – Today, Speaker of the House Jon Burns (R-Newington) announced the members of the House Study Committee on Assessing the Semester and Quarter Systems at USG and TCSG Institutions. The committee was created by legislation adopted during the 2024 session of the Georgia General Assembly.
House Study Committee on Assessing the Semester and Quarter Systems at USG and TCSG Institutions
- Rep. Shaw Blackmon – Chair (R-Bonaire)
- Rep. Ginny Ehrhart (R-Marietta)
- Rep. Mike Cheokas (R-Americus)
- Rep. Chuck Martin (R-Alpharetta)
- Rep. Stacey Evans (D-Atlanta)
- Dr. Ashwani Monga will serve as the Designee for the University System of Georgia
- Dr. Ray Perren will serve as the Designee for the Technical College System of Georgia
Created by House Resolution 1384, the House Study Committee on Assessing the Semester and Quarter Systems at USG and TCSG Institutions will examine respective advantages and disadvantages of semesters and quarters for institutions of the University System of Georgia and the Technical College System of Georgia and whether the anticipated benefits of converting to the semester system have been realized. The study committee will have the opportunity to submit their findings into proposed legislation during the 2025 legislative session.
