ATLANTA- State Representative Mickey Stephens (D-Savannah) received his 2009 Legislator Health Policy Certification on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, on the House floor. The certificate is part of Georgia State University’s Andrew Young School of Public Policy Studies Program.“I am thankful for the opportunity to participate in this program,” said Representative Stephens. “With the completion of the certification I now have a better understanding of healthcare issues related to citizens of Georgia and my constituents of District 161.”
Sponsored by the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation, the 2009 Legislator Health Policy Certificate is a nine month program offered annually to members of the Health and Human Services Committee. Participants met once a month to learn the core competencies in the areas of health, financing, coverage, access to care, and the impact of poor health on our state.
