State Representative Harry Geisinger To Attend 3rd Annual Save Our Skin Walk/Run
ATLANTA— State Representative Harry Geisinger (R-Roswell) will proudly attend the 3rd Annual Save Our Skin 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, 23 at Perimeter Place.
“As a skin cancer survivor, I want to do everything possible to find a cure,” Rep. Geisinger said. “I hope my attendance will encourage others to sign up to run or walk and help find a cure.”
Skin cancer is the leading cancer among Americans. More than 800 runners and walkers will gather to raise money to find a cure. Participants will receive great prizes and giveaways, participant bags, great food, complimentary beverages, and free skin spot checks from dermatologist in the Atlanta area.
Come learn about early skin cancer detection, from 7 am to 10:30 am. Corporate teams will receive awards for the most participants. Competitive runners, teams, individuals and families are welcome and encouraged to come help support a cause that affects everyone.
Melanoma and other skin cancers are one of the most preventable, yet fatal forms of cancer. Melanoma accounts for more than 50 percent of all cancers combined, including breast, lung and prostrate cancer. One American dies of melanoma every 67 minutes.
“It is necessary to raise public awareness of the dangers of excessive or unprotected direct exposure to the sun,” Rep. Geisinger said. “I’m happy to help educate people about preventative safety measures while still enjoying the outdoors.”
The event is sponsored by OLAY, Blue Lizard (Australian Sunscreen), AM 750WSB, Atlanta Dermatological Assn., Dunwoody Crier, Dermpath Diagnostics, Cancer Quest and Shering Plough. To register, become a sponsor, volunteer or supporter, go to scanfoundation.com.
