ATLANTA – State Representative Carmen Rice (R-Columbus) announces a number of new laws passed during the 2025 legislative session and signed into law by Governor Brian Kemp that will go into effect today, July 1, 2025. These laws seek to lower taxes and insurance costs, improve classroom learning and enhance public safety.

Speaker Jon Burns and Lt. Governor Burt Jones Applaud Final Passage of 2025 Priority Legislation: School Safety

ATLANTA – Today, House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) and Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones released statements praising the final passage of House Bill 268, a comprehensive school safety plan developed by the Georgia General Assembly in response to the tragic loss of four Georgians during a school shooting at Apalachee High School last September.
