ATLANTA – State Representative Carmen Rice (R-Columbus) announces a number of new laws passed during the 2025 legislative session and signed into law by Governor Brian Kemp that will go into effect today, July 1, 2025. Rep. Scott Hilton Applauds Final Passage of Distraction-Free Schools Legislation

ATLANTA – State Representative Scott Hilton (R-Peachtree Corners) today applauds the final passage of House Bill 340, the Distraction-Free Schools Act, legislation he sponsored that would require grades K-8 schools to implement policies to prevent students from accessing cell phones and other personal digital devices from the start until the end of the school day.

Rep. Scott Hilton Introduces Bipartisan Distraction-Free Schools Legislation to Improve Student Learning and Wellness

ATLANTA – State Representative Scott Hilton (R-Peachtree Corners) recently introduced new legislation aimed at creating distraction-free learning environments in Georgia’s public schools for grades K-8. The proposed bill would require schools to implement policies that prevent K-8 students from accessing cell phones and other digital devices from the start of the school day until the final bell, ensuring students remain engaged in their education without unnecessary interruptions.
