House Adds $58 Million to Behavioral Health and Developmental Disability Services in Fiscal Year 2022 State Budget

ATLANTA – Speaker of the House David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) and the House Appropriations Committee announced that the House included an additional $58 million for behavioral health and developmental disability services in House Bill 81, the Fiscal Year 2022 state budget, which was passed today. The additional funding will support programs and providers through the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD).

Speaker Ralston Proposes Free State-Issued Photo Identification for Georgians to Support Election Security

ATLANTA – Today, Speaker of the House David Ralston proposed that State ID cards through the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) be free to all eligible Georgians. Currently, DDS assesses a $32 fee for State ID cards. Similar in form to driver’s licenses, State ID cards are compliant with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s REAL ID standard and may be used for voter identification among other purposes. Georgia already offers a free voter photo identification, but that document may only be used for voting.

Georgia House Passes Legislation to Cut Taxes and Create Jobs in Georgia

ATLANTA – Today, the Georgia House of Representatives passed four pieces of legislation to cut taxes on Georgia families and businesses, as well as create jobs and expand economic opportunity across the state. These measures include the Tax Relief Act of 2021, the Georgia Economic Recovery Act of 2021, the Georgia Economic Renewal Act of 2021 and the Reauthorization of the House Rural Development Council.

House Appropriations Chairman Terry England Joins Governor, Lt. Governor and Speaker to Announce Bonuses for State Employees

ATLANTA – House Appropriations Committee Chairman Terry England (R-Auburn) yesterday joined Governor Brian Kemp, Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan, Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) and other members of House and Senate leadership to announce that more than 57,000 state employees will receive a one-time bonus of $1,000 during the current fiscal year.
