ATLANTA – House Majority Caucus Whip James Burchett (R-Waycross) is urging citizens in South Georgia to remain vigilant and informed as Hurricane Idalia approaches.
ATLANTA – House Majority Whip James Burchett (R-Waycross), State Representatives John Corbett (R-Lake Park), Buddy DeLoach (R-Townsend), John LaHood (R-Valdosta), Jesse Petrea (R-Savannah), Steven Sainz (R-St. Marys) and Ron Stephens (R-Savannah) today issued the following joint statement regarding active shooter threats made against schools in the South Georgia area:
ATLANTA – The House Republican Caucus met today and elected its key leaders for the 2023-2024 legislative term. The Majority Caucus nominated State Representative Jon Burns (R-Newington) as the 74th Speaker of the House of Representatives. House Speaker Pro-Tempore Jan Jones (R-Milton) was nominated for her current position by acclamation.
ATLANTA – State Representative James Burchett (R-Waycross), Chairman of the House Judiciary Non-civil Committee, applauds the State Forestry Commission and local law enforcement officials’ actions to combat the theft of palmetto berries on private forestland in southeast Georgia since the enactment of House Bill 966. During the 2020 legislative session, Rep. Burchett sponsored HB 966 to regulate the harvest and sale of palmetto berries, as well as increase penalties and establish chain-of-custody protocols for those harvesting the berries.
