House Rural Development Council Releases Recommendations for 2019 Legislative Session
ATLANTA – The House Rural Development Council, led by co-chairs Rep. Terry England (R-Auburn) and Rep. Jay Powell (R-Camilla), today released its recommendations for the 2019 legislative session of the Georgia General Assembly.
“These recommendations reflect the council’s in-depth work and research that we have gathered as we have traveled the state over the last two years,” said Rep. England. “The council’s recommendations will provide us with a solid framework as we begin to craft legislation for the 2019 legislative session.”
“Last session, rural Georgia saw tremendous legislative success in the General Assembly, but there is still much work to be done,” said Rep. Powell. “Our recommendations for 2019 legislative session seek to address some of those concerns that still need to be met in rural Georgia.”
This council, which was created by House Resolution 389 during the 2017 legislative session, works with rural communities to find ways to encourage economic growth.

Representative Terry England represents the citizens of District 116, which includes portions of Barrow County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2005 and currently serves as Chairman of the Appropriations Committee. He also serves on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Education, Industry and Labor, Natural Resources & Environment and Ways and Means committees.
Representative Jay Powell represents the citizens of District 171, which includes portions of Colquitt, Decatur and Mitchell counties. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2008 and currently serves as Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee. ATLANTA – State Representatives Jay Powell (R-Camilla), Darlene Taylor (R-Thomasville) and Sam Watson (R-Moultrie), today announced that the Georgia House of Representatives passed an amended fiscal year 2019 budget during the special session of the Georgia General Assembly. The Georgia General Assembly began a special legislative session on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, which was ordered by Gov. STATESBORO, Ga. – Today, at the House Rural Development Council meeting, Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) called for an extension of the term of the House Rural Development Council into the 2019 – 2020 session of the General Assembly.
