Georgia has offered the Public Safety Memorial Grant (PSMG) to children of fallen or permanently disabled public servants since the early 1990s. This outstanding program is funded by state appropriations and public donations. If you donated to the children of officers killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty when you renewed your license at the Department of Drivers Services, you supported this grant.

GUEST EDITORIAL: It’s Time to put Patients First

As chairman of the House Human Relations and Aging Committee in the Georgia General Assembly, and with decades of experience in health care and community-based services to the frail, elderly and developmentally disabled, I have witnessed firsthand the impact of high prescription drug prices. Too many patients skip doses, take less than prescribed or delay filling a prescription altogether just to save money. These decisions can have life-threatening consequences. This is not a rare occurrence. It’s a growing crisis affecting families in my district, across Georgia and throughout the country.

Chairman Jesse Petrea, Georgia Lawmakers, Launch Pro-Enforcement Immigration Caucus at State Capitol

ATLANTA –State Representative Jesse Petrea (R-Savannah), chairman of the House Human Relations and Aging Committee, along with other Georgia lawmakers, officially launched the Pro-Enforcement Immigration Caucus, a new group dedicated to advancing immigration enforcement efforts, supporting law enforcement agencies and promoting the rule of law across the state.

Governor Kemp Signs Rep. Jesse Petrea’s Georgia Criminal Alien Track and Report Act of 2024

ATLANTA – Today, State Representative Jesse Petrea (R-Savannah) joined Governor Brian Kemp as he signed House Bill 1105, the Georgia Criminal Alien Track and Report Act of 2024, into law at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, Ga. Sponsored by Rep. Petrea, this legislation requires Georgia law enforcement officials to work in conjunction with federal immigration authorities and to send, receive and maintain information relating to the immigration status of any individual as reasonably needed for public safety purposes.
