Legislation Establishing Georgia Commission on Maternal and Infant Health Signed into Law

ATLANTA – State Representative Lauren Daniel (R-Locust Grove) recently joined Governor Brian Kemp as he signed House Bill 1046 into law. This legislation creates the Georgia Commission on Maternal and Infant Health, a key priority for Rep. Daniel during the 2024 legislative session. Rep. Daniel originally sponsored House Bill 1073 to create this commission, and that legislation was incorporated in HB 1046.

Addy’s Law Signed by Governor Kemp

ATLANTA – Today, State Representative Lauren Daniel (R-Locust Grove) joined Governor Brian Kemp as he signed House Bill 409, also known as Addy’s Law, in honor of Adalynn Pierce, an eight-year-old from Henry County tragically killed while crossing the road to board her school bus. Addy’s family, present at the signing, conveyed their deep appreciation to Rep. Daniel for her relentless advocacy in pushing forward this legislation.

Rep. Lauren Daniel Votes in Support of Legislation to Prohibit Foreign Adversaries from Purchasing Georgia Farmland

ATLANTA – State Representative Lauren Daniel (R-Locust Grove) yesterday voted in support of Senate Bill 420, which would prohibit a person who is not a U.S. citizen or legal resident or is an agent of a foreign government designated as a foreign adversary from purchasing agricultural land in Georgia. The bill passed in the House and will now go back to the Senate for final passage before being sent to Governor Kemp for his consideration.

Rep. Lauren Daniel Introduces Legislation to Increase Penalties for Passing School Buses

ATLANTA – State Representative Lauren Daniel (R-Locust Grove) recently introduced House Bill 1284, which would increase the penalties for passing a school bus and encourage schools to pick up students on the right side of a road that has a speed limit of over 40 mph. House Bill 1284, or “Addy’s Law,” was named after eight-year-old Adalyn Pierce of Henry County who was killed by a driver as she was crossing the road to get onto her school bus. Representatives Clint Crowe (R-Jackson) and Karen Mathiak (R-Griffin) are cosponsors of HB 1284.
