As the state representative for House District 170, I have always prioritized the safety and well-being of children and families throughout our district and across Georgia. However, I am deeply troubled by a significant rise in child abuse and neglect cases reported in Tift, Cook and Berrien counties. The safety of our children is at risk, and this alarming trend demands action.

Rep. Penny Houston Named 2024 Legislator of the Year by Georgia Council on Aging

ATLANTA – State Representative Penny Houston (R-Nashville) was recently named as the 2024 Legislator of the Year by the Georgia Council on Aging’s Coalition of Advocates for Georgia’s Elderly (CO-AGE). Rep. Houston will be presented with the award on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at CO-AGE’s annual meeting at the Methodist Children’s Home in Macon. This annual recognition is bestowed upon a legislator who shows outstanding commitment to Georgia’s seniors throughout the legislative session.
