Forsyth County House Delegation Adopts House Rules, Names Rep. Brent Cox as Chairman

ATLANTA – Members of the Forsyth House Delegation, including State Representative Brent Cox (R-Dawsonville), met on Monday, February 10, 2025, to adopt their House Rules for the 2025-2026 legislative term. Also, during the meeting, Rep. Cox was named Chairman of the delegation for the 2025-2026 legislative term.

Speaker Jon Burns Announces Appointments to House Study Committee on Credit Card Fees on State Sales and Excise Tax and Their Impact on Georgia Merchants and Consumers

ATLANTA – Today, Speaker of the House Jon Burns (R-Newington) announced the members of the House Study Committee on Credit Card Fees on State Sales and Excise Tax and Their Impact on Georgia Merchants and Consumers. This committee was created by legislation adopted during the 2024 session of the Georgia General Assembly.

Governor Kemp Signs “Georgia Promise Scholarship Act” into Law

ATLANTA – On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, Governor Brian P. Kemp signed Senate Bill 233, the “Georgia Promise Scholarship Act,” into law. Sponsored by Chairman of the Senate Committee on Transportation Sen. Greg Dolezal (R–Cumming), the “Georgia Promise Scholarship Act” creates the Georgia Education Savings Authority and provides its composition, functions, duties and powers in administering the Promise Scholarship Program. The bill also provides for the establishment of promise scholarship accounts to be funded by the state in the amount of $6,500.00 for the first school year and through an adjusted amount each subsequent school year.
