ATLANTA – State Representative Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain), chair of the DeKalb County House Ethics Committee, commends the recent approval of House Bill 1243, which was approved through a local ballot referendum with a margin of 87 percent. Passed during the 2020 legislative session, HB 1243 updates the codes for the DeKalb County Board of Ethics.

Members of DeKalb County Legislative Delegation Urge EPD to Revoke Solid Waste Permit for New Metro Greene Recycling Plant
ATLANTA – Members of the DeKalb County Legislative Delegation, co-chaired by State Representatives Doreen Carter (D-Lithonia) and Karla Drenner (D-Avondale Estates), recently submitted a letter to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources requesting that the Georgia Environment Protection Division (EPD) revoke the solid waste permit issued for Metro Greene Recycling’s new plant. The proposed plant would be located at 5152 Snapfinger Woods Drive in Stonecrest, which is a residential area.

Democratic State Legislators to File Second Open Records Request with Georgia Department of Labor
ATLANTA – House Minority Caucus Chairman James Beverly (D-Macon), State Representatives Rhonda Burnough (D-Riverdale), Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain), Debra Bazemore (D-South Fulton), Sharon Beasley-Teague (D-Red Oak), Donna McLeod (D-Lawrenceville), Sandra Scott (D-Rex), Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta), Valencia Stovall (D-Forest Park) and Mary Robichaux (D-Roswell) today announced their plans to submit a second open records request to the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) for information concerning the backlog of Unemployment Insurance (UI) claims. The legislators filed an initial request on July 21, 2020, and have not received a reply regarding their first request.
