Rep. Stovall Hosts Successful 3rd Annual Clayton County Back-to-School Block Party

ATLANTA – State Representative Valencia Stovall (D-Forest Park) recently hosted the 3rd Annual Clayton County Back-to-School Block Party on Friday, August 2, 2019. The block party celebrated the upcoming 2019 school year and provided school supplies for Clayton County residents.

“This year’s block party was truly amazing, and partnering with Little Ones Learning Center, Forest Park High School, Forest Park High School PTSA and Metro Boyz Entertainment made it an unforgettable event,” said Rep. Stovall. “We appreciate our important partners like CareSource, United Way of Greater Atlanta, Amerigroup, Forest Park Laundry, Forest Park City Councilman Allan Mears, GEEARS, MARTA, Georgia Power, Peach State Health Plan and NCAA Basketball Program. I want to extend a tremendous thanks to the Atlanta Community Food Bank for supplying fresh food to over 250 families and our outstanding volunteers who attended the event.”

“On behalf of Little Ones Learning Center, I’d like to extend a heartfelt and deep appreciation to each individual, business, agency and organization that played a role in the success of our 3rd annual event,” said Wande Okunoren-Meadows, Early Childhood Program Administrator of Little Ones Learning Center. “Our unique partnership shows what happens when private, public, government and non-profit sectors collaborate to bring a great event to Clayton. As a member of the business community for over two decades, Ms. O and I look forward to partnering with State Representative Valencia Stovall and others to bring another stellar Clayton County Back to School Block Party to Forest Park next year.”

“The Forest Park High School Panther Family, which is a microcosm of the Forest Park community, would like to extend our sincere gratitude to State Representative Valencia Stovall and her team for bringing an amazing 2019 Back to School Rally to ‘our’ school on behalf of the students, families and stakeholders and to all those who participated, provided resources, information, opportunities, etc., which we certainly attribute to one of our best openings,” said Derrick Manning, Principal of Forest Park High School. “We are proud and thankful for an amazing event and experience.”

“Every child, one voice,” said Arvis Potts-Walker, PTSA president.

This year’s block party hosted 43 exhibitors and welcomed over 800 attendees. During the event, which lasted two and a half hours, attendees were able to receive resources, such as fresh food, school supplies, book bags, door prizes and entertainment.
