ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Leesa Hagan (R-Lyons) as the Vice Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education and the House Transportation Committee.
“I am thankful that Speaker Burns and the Committee on Assignments have appointed me to serve in these roles,” said Rep. Hagan. “Both of these important committees impact the people of the 156th District and all Georgians daily, and I am happy to have these opportunities to serve and be a part of the leadership team in this meaningful way.”
The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.
The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education assists with drafting budgets, specifically budgetary items related to Pre-K and K-12 education.
The Transportation Committee handles legislation dealing with Georgia’s Department of Transportation and their operations. The committee also deals with legislation regarding Georgia’s roads and infrastructure.
Additionally, Rep. Hagan has been named as a member of the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Industry and Labor, Natural Resources & Environment and Small Business Development committees.

Representative Leesa Hagan represents the citizens of District 156, which includes Montgomery, Toombs and Wheeler counties, as well as portions of Ben Hill, Tattnall and Telfair counties. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2021 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Transportation Committee and the Appropriations Subcommittee on Education.
