Rep. Karlton Howard Sworn in, Receives Committee Assignments for the 2023-2024 Legislative Term

ATLANTA – State Representative Karlton Howard (D-Augusta) was sworn into office as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives on Monday, January 9, 2023, marking his first day of the 2023-2024 legislative term. Monday was the first day of the first term of the 157th Legislative Session of the Georgia General Assembly.

“I am humbled and excited to have been chosen to serve the people of District 129 as a new legislator,” said Rep. Howard.  “It is an amazing privilege to be appointed to significant committees and help shape policies that make a direct impact on my constituents and the great state of Georgia.”

In addition to being officially sworn in, the Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named Rep. Howard to the Education, Interstate Cooperation and Public Health committees. 

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives. 

Representative Karlton Howard represents the citizens of District 129, which includes portions of Richmond County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves on the Education, Interstate Cooperation and Public Health committees.
