ATLANTA – State Representatives Robert Dickey (R-Musella) and Dale Washburn (R-Macon) today issued the following statement condemning the recent antisemitic acts in Macon:
“Antisemitism is a hateful ideology that has caused immense suffering throughout history and poses a threat to the well-being of our Jewish communities in Georgia. We denounce any form of discrimination, prejudice or violence targeting Jewish individuals or communities. Antisemitic acts, including hate speech or any other form of religious persecution, are utterly unacceptable and have no place in our society.
“We have a strong Jewish community in Macon and throughout our state. They are our friends, our business associates, our family and valued members of our community. We will not stand for any antisemitic acts in Middle Georgia.
“Next session, we will continue our fight to pass legislation to ensure the protection of Jewish individuals and communities, sending a strong message that such acts will not be tolerated in our state. We also fully support legislation that would allow law enforcement to investigate and prosecute hate crimes against our Jewish citizens.”
