ATLANTA – State Representative Farooq Mughal (D-Dacula) recently met with United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai to discuss Georgia’s agricultural industry and its international role in U.S. trade and commerce.
“It is important to keep our diaspora communities included in this crucial conversation,” said Rep. Mughal. “As Georgia’s number one industry, agriculture plays a vital role in contributing to Georgia’s progressing economy. Therefore, keeping Georgia residents informed on international relations is paramount to the state’s continued economic success. I was honored to take part in this necessary conversation and look forward to expanding on the need for economic transparency, not only within our state’s borders, but across the globe as well.”
Ambassador Tai previously served as Chief Trade Counsel and Trade Subcommittee Staff Director for the House Ways and Means Committee in the United States Congress.
Rep. Mughal seeks to continue to be a voice for international business at the State Capitol and has remained in contact with many Counsel Generals and foreign delegations to further pursue international partnerships with Georgia. Rep. Mughal wants to maintain Georgia as the number one state to do business with by furthering international ties for foreign investment to curate more jobs in Georgia.
Representative Farooq Mughal represents the citizens of District 105, which includes portions of Gwinnett County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves on the Special Rules, Judiciary Non-Civil and State Planning & Community Affairs committees.
