ATLANTA – State Representative Farooq Mughal (D-Dacula) recently met with Dilawar Syed, the Deputy Administrator of the United States Small Business Administration (SBA), who has worked under both the Obama and Biden administrations. Rep. Mughal and DA Syed discussed how the federal government is working to assist small businesses in House District 105 and across the state of Georgia.
“It was an honor and a pleasure to take part in a conversation focused on growing Georgia’s economy and strengthening our work force,” said Rep. Mughal. “Because Georgia continues to lead the way in economic development and business-friendly policies, conversations like these are imperative as we must continue to work towards maintaining Georgia’s economy. I intend to continue this conversation with my legislative colleagues as we progress throughout the legislative session, ensuring all businesses, especially small businesses, have the support they need to be successful in these trying times.”
Rep. Mughal seeks to continue to be a champion and advocate for small businesses, while focusing on minority-owned businesses. During the 2023 session, Rep. Mughal co-sponsored House Bill 128, legislation that simplified the minority certification process by replacing the pre-existing definition of a “member of a minority,” with the term “classified subcontractor,” and seeks to give more minority-owned businesses, women-owned businesses and veteran-owned businesses equal opportunities to compete for state contacts.
