ATLANTA – State Representative Miriam Paris (D-Macon) and former State Representative Erica Thomas Adeyemi will honor 100 women in celebration of International Women’s Day on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. on the South Wing Steps of the Georgia State Capitol. This event aims to recognize the contributions of women across various fields and industries, highlighting their achievements and inspiring future generations.
“It is an honor to join forces with former State Representative Erica Thomas Adeyemi in recognizing the outstanding contributions of these 100 women,” said Rep. Paris. “Their achievements serve as a testament to the limitless potential of women to effect positive change and shape a more inclusive and equitable society.”
“International Women’s Day is an occasion to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of women from all walks of life,” said former State Rep. Erica Thomas Adeyemi. “By honoring these 100 women, we not only recognize their individual achievements but also pay tribute to the collective strength and resilience of women everywhere.”
The honorees include Anya Kearns, a young Black Delta pilot, known for breaking stereotypes in aviation, as well as Martice Sutton, founder of Girls Going Global, who has provided a safe space for girls to express themselves and pursue their aspirations.
Rep. Paris is encouraging attendees to wear shades of purple.
